Greetings! Saw your post in Google Blogsearch.

As one of the Catholics, I'd like to point out in all charity that the linked resource is a poor tool for discussions with Catholics.

While you might pick off some low hanging fruit, (nominal poorly catechized Catholics), the document is largely a summary of several well known Protestant myths and misconceptions regarding the Catholic faith.

For example, while the document does examine Matthew 16:16 in regards to the authority of Peter, it leaves out any discussion of the obvious reference in Matthew 16:16 to Isaiah 22:22. As soon as a Catholic points out the clear reference to the Davidic office of Isaiah 22:22 and Christ's (as a King and an heir of King David) re-establishment of the Davidic office in Matthew 16:16, the discussion is largely over and the non-Catholic following the notes is at the disadvantage.

That is not to say there there is not some truth among the notes. Ben states: "the Church cannot preach, teach, command or practice anything contrary to scripture." Amen. Catholics believe that 100%. The Catholic doctrine is found 100% in scripture, either explicitly or implicitly. That said, many Catholic doctrines are against many individuals personal interpretations of scripture. But that's a different thing entirely.

Personally, rather than trying to move sheep between pens, we as Christians should be trying to increase the size of the flock. As Baptist growth was flat at 0% last year, the Million Baptism initiative came in well short, and large numbers of Baptist youth are not practicing the faith, your denomination might be better served by focusing on the "unchurched."

God bless you and your flock...
